The IT lab was opened in 2013, and currently hosts 11 computers and WIFI facilities. The IT lab has been allocated to assist hospital clinicians and workers in further training and development, and is a support center for the development of the health information management system software (HIMS). Pioneered at the National Cancer Institute, the HIMS is a virtual software program that enables patient records to be kept electronically, thereby improving patient care services and decision-making. Established from the IT lab at the National Cancer Institute, The HIMS will act as a blueprint for use in hospitals nationwide. The HIMS will also be operated and established full term in the Cancer Institute, through the support of the IT lab through training of HIMS data operators.
